In the highlands, another opportunity comes up for you. You'll hike up cool mountain trails in search of Square Trees, golden frogs and petroglyphs. The Square trees are just that, completely square tree trunks, 90 degree corners! Unusual but totally natural.
The golden frogs are small golden yellow in color,
rare but still about.
Petroglyphs are picture and map carvings in huge rocks, left here hundreds of years ago by an extinct tribe. Legend has it the maps show the placement of golden treasure. (You never know what you might come across.)
In the highland area is also where you will do your tree canopy "flying". A spectacular experience.

If conditions permit, one of your treks can be a literal treasure hunt! Hiking along the Las
Cruces Trail. This was the road way that the Spanish Conquistadors used to carry their booty from the Incas to Spain. It is also the route that Henry Morgan the Pirate used after sacking the capitol city of Panama and making off with dozens of packmules of gold and prizes.
The story goes that the trail was too much for the tired pirates, and they left a large portion of their treasure along the way somewhere...
More about this in the
treasure hunting program.... ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
