EduQuest gives you the opportunity to explore the unbeaten road like no other place...

Sandy beaches, jungle walkways, shallow streams, highland paths and of course the Las Cruces Trail also known as the "Road of Gold" are waiting for you.

On any trek you take, either on horseback or  afoot, you'll be surrounded  with the greatest variety of wildlife anywhere.

You can't help but see birds, animals and plants  you've never seen before.

As a break from your scuba classes you'll be taken on a horseback ride through the nearby jungle. The growth is so thick in places that only the shallow streams provide the easiest passage.

From horseback you get a different perspective on the greenery around you.

The steady rhythms of the horse walking is relaxing and makes for a pleasant change from class.

Along the beaches you will see the same sites as early New World Explorers, no high rise condo's or waterfront developments to block your path...with the tropical trade winds to refresh you.

To keep you challenged,  the beach style changes

...from coral sand, to black volcanic, to rocky .

At any time you can jump in the sea for a  break, the water's always warm and comfortable.

Trekking along the seaside is what you'll probably miss the most when you go back home...

In the highlands, another opportunity comes up for you. You'll hike up cool mountain trails in search of  Square Trees, golden frogs and petroglyphs.

The Square trees are just that, completely square tree trunks, 90 degree corners! Unusual but totally natural.

The golden frogs are small golden yellow in color, rare but still about.

Petroglyphs are picture and map carvings in huge rocks, left here hundreds of years ago by an extinct tribe. Legend has it the maps show the placement of golden treasure. (You never know what you might come across.)

In the highland area is also where you will do your tree canopy "flying". A spectacular experience.

If  conditions permit, one of your treks can be a literal treasure hunt!  Hiking along the Las   Cruces Trail. This was the road way that the Spanish Conquistadors used to carry their booty  from the Incas to  Spain. It is also the route that  Henry Morgan the Pirate used  after sacking the capitol city  of  Panama and making off  with dozens of packmules of gold and prizes.

The story goes that the trail was  too much for the tired pirates, and  they left a large portion of their treasure along the way somewhere...

More about this in the treasure hunting program....
